Paula's Story

In 1994, my late husband and I purchased this restaurant. Our mission has been to serve fresh Lake Erie fish, local produce, local wine and craft beer.

Our team strives to ensure your visit is the best in food quality, hospitality and cleanliness.

We began with my mother Ann who ensured the quality of the food and the cleanliness met her high standards. My late father Roland shuttled customers and helped with errands. My three sisters Bridget, Veronica and Donna along with their daughters, all helped to serve our valued customers.

In 1995 we added Garden View Dining Room with great success.

In 2000 we increased our seating capacity by adding our outside patio and welcomed two new members to our team. Lori, our kitchen manager and Dave, an amazing waiter.

I cannot tell you my story without including the people who have played a large part in our success. Thank you, our valued customers and terrific team.

Paula's Features

Paula’s Fish Place specializes in Fresh Lake Erie Yellow Perch & Pickerel for the past 25 years. Paula’s specialty batter for the fresh fish is a very light batter merely to coat and seal the flavor of the fish  or you can have it grilled in Lemon & Herbs.

 

Lots of Parking

Lots of parking all around the restaurant as well as accessible parking in the front entrance. Also features a Tuesday night Cruise night for all you Vintage car and bike enthusiasts. See our events calendar for time and discounts.

 

Inside Dining

Inside we have two heated or air conditioned dining areas. One we call the Garden view overlooking bird feeders and flowers  seating 45 guests and the second  dining area of 45 seating is more private. We also have a beautiful outside patio seating 55 . Some vies overlooking Lake Erie and covered by Trumpet vines that the birds and butterflies pollinate.

 

Our Fish is the Freshest

At Paula’s we bring in the fish fresh every other day off the boat in Wheatley . This is why we are only open from mid March to end of October. We take our fresh fish serious. We lightly batter or grill most fish. We have an All You Can Eat Frog Legs every Thursday all day. The Frog Legs are farm grown in Asia. Friday night is our All You Can Eat Lake Erie Yellow Perch. Once the weather breaks and patio is open reservations are recommended.

Our Menu

Our menu has many fish choices and sizes. We range from a large plates for diner to a medium portion for lunch to a senior size version for light eaters. We also offer a children’s menu. Our certified Servers make amazing White and Red Sangria’s and Caribbean style Caesars along with many other tantalizing drinks. Our wine menu comprises of Local Pelee Island Wines and some German wines.
